Our First Sunset

This is a pic of the first sunset we enjoyed on our boat.  It was actually Sunday evening, the 18th.  We had been working all weekend on the boat, cleaning it up for the survey on Monday. Yes, we were taking a chance, we cleaned the boat all weekend and we didn’t even own it yet.  If the survey was a disaster, it would have been all for nothing. But, sometimes you just have to take a chance. Happy Thanksgiving

Well, we thought we were going to be home by now.  Originally, we thought, “Survey on Monday, sea trial Tuesday and back home Wednesday.” Well, there is a lot of work to do. We decided over the last week since seeing her and working on her, that we needed to get the boat south for the winter.  Connecticut winters can be harsh. Originally, we planned on traveling to CT every 2-3 weeks to work on her for the weekend. However, we realized that we would get far more done if she were actually in Annapolis with us. The Call to Adventure

We have always dreamed of going sailing. When we were young, and just starting out in our naval careers after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy, we read sailing magazines and considered buying a boat to put in charter. We almost bought a friend’s boat to liveaboard while stationed in Virginia Beach, VA. Then life got busy. We moved for work often. Too often. I attribute that now to my wanderlust (and the fact that I am a Sagittarius), and I admit that I jumped at any opportunity to move—especially if it was overseas.
